The "RTAero" (Real Time Aerometer) project is developing a system for mobile measurement of aerodynamics during racing cycling in conjunction with real-time feedback. Online software for in-depth analysis and evaluation of the data is also planned. The innovative measuring system is simply attached to the wheel cockpit and makes it possible for the first time to receive information on one's own aerodynamics in real time. Wind speed, wind direction, temperature and barometric pressure are recorded via various sensors. Both the housing and the associated pitot tube are manufactured in one component using the 3D printing process, so that the internal channels for the air flow can be integrated directly into the housing. All data are later available on an online platform, where they can be further analyzed and used to optimize individual performance.
