Thermal, chemical and electrical energy storage (i.e. Power-to-X)

Energy storage is the key technology for the final penetration of renewable energies in the domestic electricity mix.

In this area, we are researching systematic storage capability, which means that it is not primarily about developing new thermal or electrical storage devices, but rather about leveraging new storage potentials. Clever thermal energy management in the residential building means that real buffer storage can be dispensed with, yet renewable thermal energy can be temporarily stored. Likewise, new design methods for electrical storage devices can be developed in this way, which, although the electrical storage device is designed to be smaller, achieve a better storage efficiency.
